Another Hot Week – We Were Everywhere!
What a week! Scorching heat, garden parties, a massive family funday in Nelson, a 1940s weekend in Southport, plus all our regular quiz nights. It was blistering hot all week but that doesn’t stop us – here’s how it all went.
Our Weekly Quiz Nights
Tuesday: The Station, Morecambe
Dan hosted his quiz at The Station in Morecambe. Same regulars showing up, same competitive spirit.
Wednesday: Birley Arms, Warton
Georgina’s usual Wednesday quiz at The Birley Arms in Warton. Packed as always.
Thursday: The Ship, Freckleton
Dan’s Thursday speed quiz at The Ship in Freckleton. Always competitive!
Friday: Music Bingo and a Garden Party Heatwave!
Music Bingo at The Hospital Inn, Bamber Bridge
Friday night Dan was at The Hospital Inn in Bamber Bridge for music bingo!
Great crowd despite the heat. Everyone singing along, competing for prizes, brilliant atmosphere. These Friday nights at The Hospital Inn are solid now – people know it’s on and they come prepared.
Seb’s 6th Birthday – Garden Party in Mawdsley
Friday afternoon was Seb’s 6th birthday in the garden in Mawdsley near Ormskirk – and mate, it was blistering hot!
Garden parties are great but this heat was proper intense. Seb and his mates didn’t care though – six-year-olds just get on with it. We did musical chairs in the garden, kids were buzzing. Limbo came next and they were all determined to get under that stick.
The magic show had Seb absolutely gobsmacked – first trick happened and his eyes went massive. Despite the heat bearing down, he was completely into it. We ran relay races to burn off energy, had water breaks to keep everyone okay in the heat, did party games that kept them engaged.
Balloon modelling in the shade, medals for everyone. Seb had a brilliant 6th birthday and everyone handled the heat like troopers!
Saturday: Family Funday and a 40th Till Late!
Home Start East Lancs Family Funday – Nelson
Saturday morning, Dan and George were at Home Start East Lancs Family Funday in Nelson – running all the games all day!
And it was blistering hot! Didn’t matter though. We were running traditional outdoor games – running races, hopping races, egg and spoon, sack races. The lot!
Dan also did two magic shows during the day which had the kids completely amazed. Despite the heat being relentless, the crowd was brilliant and everyone was having a proper good time. This is what community events are about – families out together, kids getting involved in proper traditional games, having fun.
Big thanks to Home Start East Lancs for having us!
Danny’s 40th Birthday Garden Party
Saturday afternoon and evening, Dan and George were hosting Danny’s 40th birthday garden party – another outdoor bash!
This one was game after game for the adults. We’re talking relay races, team challenges, competitive stuff that got everyone laughing and involved. Adults are basically just big kids when you get them going!
We ran a music speed quiz too – five seconds to answer, no thinking time, just pure instinct. The banter was brilliant, everyone was competitive as hell, people were buzzing.
Music kept going all night and this party went right till 10pm! That’s a proper night out. Loads of laughs, loads of fun, everyone went home buzzing.
Happy 40th to Danny!
Sunday: 1940s Weekend and Another Birthday!
Southport 1940s Weekend
Sunday morning, Dan was in Southport for the 1940s weekend – hosting all the traditional outdoor games for the kids!
1940s weekends are brilliant – families in period kit, kids getting involved in old-school games, proper nostalgic vibes. Dan was out there with all the classic games – running races, hopping, egg and spoon, all that traditional stuff.
This is what it’s about really – bringing people together, creating proper memories, keeping traditions alive.
Emily’s 6th Birthday – Tarleton Bowling Club
Sunday afternoon, Dan was at Tarleton Bowling Club for Emily’s 6th birthday party!
Six-year-olds have serious energy and Emily’s mates were absolutely buzzing. Bowling club is always good – plenty of space to run around and have fun.
Musical chairs got competitive straight away, limbo had some brilliant moves, magic show had Emily absolutely mesmerized. Party games flying by, relay races with the kids sprinting everywhere, balloon modelling which Emily loved.
Medals all round, giant conga line to finish. Emily had a brilliant 6th birthday!
